If you are looking for a nice location for a walk we can recommend the following:
- Hjörnered, just north-east of Laholm
- Simlångsdalen with Danska fallen, circa 20km east of Halmstad
- Svarvareskogen in Skummeslövsstrand, a path of approximately 3.5 km
- Hökafältet in Norra Mellbystrand

- Hökafältet in Norra Mellbystrand, a 2.5km track, illuminated during dusk/evenings, stretching across sand dunes and through the pine forest.

Here are some suggestions, both in the nearby area and also some that may be more of a daytrip. Some of these can also come in handy in case there is a rainy day.

- Go on a boat trip on river Lagan with the steam boat S/S Lagaholm, http://www.sslagaholm.se/

- Explore the city where the tennis tournament Swedish Open is played, Båstad. Here you will also find the Swedish tennis museum. - Ysby old general store. Here you can enjoy a Swedish 'fika' in an old traditional environment. Get a feel for what it looked like when the older generations went shopping locally. Temporarily Closed.
- If the younger children want some more excitement, or water-slides, do make a trip to Halmstad and the Äventyrslandet, http://www.aventyrslandet.se/
- Have you ever wondered what the ski slopes look like under all the snow? Come to Kungsbygget and see for yourself. Here you can also try out a summer toboggan and sliding down the hill on a zip-line. http://kungsbygget.com/kungsbygget-active-adventures/
- If you are interested in the history of radio technology and transmissions across the Atlantic ocean? Then take your car and drive to Grimetons radiostation just outside Varberg. This is one of our world heritage sites, http://www.grimeton.org/index.php/english
- Statkraft is engaged in salmon farming and annually releases about 250 000 salmon and sea trout in the streams where they extract hydropower. You can visit their visitor center and see the salmon life cycle, http://www.statkraft.se/om-statkraft/statkraft-i-sverige/Besokscenter/

- If you want to explore a cave-like environment and learn more about local folklore, a visit to the Midsommargrottan or Midsommarstugan can be an good idea. - Want to visit a genuine castle? You need not travel very far, as Skottorps slott (Skottorp Castle) is just a few minutes away by car. There are guided tours of the castle, and afterward you can enjoy a nice cup of coffee or the in the garden. http://skottorpsslott.se/
- Want to try clay pottery? Skottorps Stengods offers you the possibility to create a souvenir in your own design. If it didn't turn out as you expected, they do have their own products for sale. http://www.skottorps-stengods.se/
- If you visit the area in August, don't miss the 'Vattenfallets Dag' at Karsefors. The second Sunday of August the sluices are opened and the water flows freely, up to 200m3 of water per seconds when fully opened, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsmfUSm3_O0
- One of Sweden's greatest artists, Birgit Nilsson, grew up in village between Båstad and Torekov. Today the property is a museum, where the house is preserved, showing you what it looked like when Birgit lived here. - 'Danska fallen' (The Danish falls'), is a series of waterfalls in the stream of Assman, just outside of Simlångsdalen, where the water descends a total of 36 meters. http://www.halland.se/sv/visit/go/164-danska-fall
- Pay a visit to Ängelholms Flygmuseum and have a look at airplanes, from J22 to JAS39 and a lot of aviation history.
Restaurants, dining out and some nice small 'fika' places
Sometimes you just want to relax and enjoy a nice meal in peace and quiet, or you want to experience what we Swedes love to do, to have a 'fika' (having a coffee or the with some cake or cookie). There are many good restaurants, pizzerias and cafes in the area, here are just a few examples ;

- Strandhotellet i Mellbystrand. Built in 1927 and with a makeover done in 2010 this is a vell deserved place to visit and have something to eat. http://strandhotellet.com/
- Café Killeröd. 150 meters over the sea overlooking the area of Bjäre and Kullaberg. You just have to try their applemarangtart. www.cafe-killerod.se
- Solbackens wåffelbruk. Enjoy home made waffles made from the old original recipe while enjoying the view of the bay. Situated on the slopes along the "Italian road", ca 1.5km west of the church in Båstad. www.solbacken.eu
